Another lovely reference is the Tarot Ethics published by famed Tarot Author James Ricklef on his site.

These are some very good templates that you can use to write your code of ethics, which you can use to convey your rules for doing Tarot Card Readings to your clients in a positive, professional manner.

Drafting the Code of Ethics for Tarot Readers

I would 100% reccomend that you study these carefully, and examine your own Tarot Reading practice. What are the rules you’d like to enforce? What are the kinds of readings you do not prefer to do? What is your approach towards doing these readings?

Code of Ethics for Tarot Readers: What is the Advantage

There are many advantages of having a Code of Ethics, especially as a professional Tarot Reader.

1. Set boundaries: The code of ethics can set boundaries about your working times, about the kinds of readings and questions you totally would not do, about the sort of interactions you are not looking to have while pursuing your career as a professional Tarot Card Reader.
2. Inform potential clients about your Tarot Reading philosophy: The code of ethics can be used to convey your philosophy and thought process behind your Tarot Reading process. Do you believe in Free Will? Do you believe in empowering clients through your Readings? If your potential clients like what they see, if they too think as you do, then both of you will very likely have a smooth experience during the reading. This makes your clients feel at ease and relax into the reading.
3. Code of Conduct: As with any profession, this documents the rules and codes of your conduct during the reading. This tells your potential client about what they can reasonably expect from you.
4. Professionalism: Will the readings be confidential? What sort of standards do you hold yourself up to? Your version of the code of ethics for Tarot readers will tell your potential clients about these aspects of your professional interaction, and more.
5. Your Right to Refuse: In my books, this one is quite important. Just as potential clients have the right to decide if they want a reading from you, you too have a right to decide if you want to read for them or not. And in this, I will always say: Trust your intuition. I’ve played with this fire a couple of times, and have lived to regret it. If you feel like this client is “not right” or something about them feels “off”, then just tell them that you aren’t comfortable reading for them. Or you can tell them that you don’t feel like their energy resonates with yours, and that they would be better served by another Tarot Card Reader.

These are a few, but important points that you can decide and clarify in your code of ethics document.
