In many different posts on this blog, we’ve had a look at the concept of Archetypes. There are many different archetypes present in our Tarot card deck.
I have been thinking of writing a series of posts about these different archetypes. But before we dive right into the pool, lets take a deeper look at the concept of Archetypes, and how they relate to the images on our Tarot card deck.

As we have seen in our previous article, there are five main archetypes that Jung defines: the Self, the Shadow, the Anima, the Animus and the Persona. Of course, there are several other archetypes apart from these that are present within the images of the Tarot cards. But to begin our journey, we shall start out with these five.
Today, we are going to look at the archetype of the Self and at how it has been portrayed in the Tarot cards.

As we continue our journey within the archetypes in Tarot, we are now going to look at The Persona, which is defined as ‘the way we present ourselves to the world’.
Our inner world has many dimensions. However, our outer world can also have several layers. All of those different layers make up the Persona of an individual.
Lets have a look at how this archetype has been expressed within the images of the Tarot cards.

Continuing our journey with the Archetypes in Tarot, we are now going to look at the archetype of The Shadow, which is said to be that part of our unconscious mind that includes our repressed desires, weaknesses, shortcomings and instincts.
Lets look at how the Shadow archetype manifests across the different spheres of our life, and of course, the images of the Tarot cards.

The Anima and The Animus are the fifth from among the basic Archetypes that Jung defined. Typically, the Anima defines the unconscious female qualities that a male individual possesses, and the Animus defines the unconscious male qualities that a female individual possesses.
Today, lets look at how the archetypes of The Anima and The Animus are depicted in the images of the Tarot cards.

Today, we are going to look at the Father Archetype, another essential archetype within the Major Arcana. Just as the Empress represented the Mother Archetype, the Emperor card in the Major Arcana represents the Father Archetype.
